A New Beginning

Wanting to start all over again,
I flung my old self down the drain.
I tried to forget the past,
All but the shadow it had cast.
Never did anything feel so bad,
It seemed i was gradually going mad.
I promised i would correct every mistake,
There was too much at stake.
I tried to put my mind at ease,
But it kept flowing with the breeze.
Guilt was starting to engulf me,
There were disappointments as far as i could see.
That was when i realised it aint easy to begin anew,
Smirking i walked back crushing every sentiment that grew.

Changing Priorities

There comes a time in life when the things that we do for fun,
Get replaced by things that are important in the life's run.
Entertainment becomes just a word on the page,
And career takes centre stage.
At this point only dedication and will matter,
A couple of mistakes and we could see our dreams shatter.
The time that was used to be spent in fun or sports,
Gets consumed in surrounded by books.
We can either take the change in our stride,
Or sit and complain with a bunch of excuses beside.
We need to learn to be flexible,
Changing priorities with time should never be impossible.
It's always better to focus on the task at hand,
Than to regret later when time slips through our fingers like sand.
And in this process people will always criticise you,
People who will appreciate it will only be a few.
We should be the one to decide our priority,
And just push the mute button for the majority.

A Soldier's Life

When you live happily and safely in your homes,
He fights until the end against the enemy's drones.
You get mad when your parents don't take you out for lunch,
He feeds on whatever he gets to munch.
You do everything to get that little extra sleep in the morning,
He wakes up early and trains without warning.
You sob uncontrollably when a thorn causes a wound,
He fights his heart out even when he knows he is doomed.
Your family helps you grow everyday without fret,
His might only see him after his untimely death.

When Failures Hurt Deep

It's a common notion that failures are important for success,
But sometimes failures cause mental stress.
When even loads of hard work leads to failures,
The feeling of helplessness comes out as tears.
Our mood becomes grumpy,
Mind is rendered enraged and unhappy.
Silence takes over our words,
And unanswered questions are scattered like broken glass shards.
A single thing keeps popping in the head,
"I wish i were dead. "
No matter how much you try to pull yourselves up,
You'll always find reasons to make your confidence take a steep drop.
Situations that make your heart weep,
Those are the failures that really hurt deep.
They numb our senses,
Encloses them within fenses.
But just two sentences cause the happiness to be unfurled,
"What difference does this make?  It ain't the end of the world. "
