Being Left Out

Do you ever get the feeling during a group conversation,
That you have become just a mannequin?
Sometimes it's the topic, sometimes it's the language,
You just want to walk out without being savage.
They become almost unaware of your presence,
And your being there makes absolutely no sense.
You try so hard to indulge yourself in something or the other,
But the hollow feeling if being ignored increases further.
But the worst part is that,
You don't want to indulge in their chat.
Because once you actually get involved in it,
You become the laughing stock because you don't really fit.
No matter the topic, you'll get laughed upon every time,
Because, for them, your opinion is not even worth a dime.
The facial expression might show you don't care,
Yet deep down, there is a raging flare.
Because there's no worse feeling in the world than being left out,
It's those "friends's"  way of saying, "You're not required. Turn about."

Why The Long Face?

Life is not all about fun and frolic,
Sometimes it's gonna hand you a sour garlic.
It will always be unexpected,
No matter how much matter people say it was predicted.
It starts breaking you from the inside,
But you have to sport a smile on the outside.
Acting normal in such a case is not always possible,
Because you don't know what's causing this trouble.
Your actions begin to get unreasonable,
The mood always seems to take a tumble.
Even the things that normally make you happy,
Tend to make you all the more sloppy.
You will try to the best of your strength to pull yourself up,
Yet the intensity will always drop.
Then there will be a hope to find the reason at the earliest,
Soon even the hope will start to rust.
"Why the long face?" will be the constant question,
You can only say, "It's more complicated than the genre faction".

New Experiences Have Weird Beginnings

It's said that a good beginning has a good end,
But the ones with a mixed start generally do not follow the trend.
They give glimpses of their end more times than you remember,
Every great building was once a timber.
Beginning of a new venture always seems to have more cons than pros,
Like thorns near a rose.
Such instances force us to step out of comfort zone,
It's similar to asking a modern child to live without a cell phone.
We all have had many new experiences till date,
Its the best experiences they give that decide our fate.
Also, weird has different definitions for everyone,
But its effects are as constant as the sun.
When we step out into the real world by unbolting the life's door,
We realise we are capable of so much more.
In life it's always expect the unexpected,
Because somewhere along the line we all are distracted.
Every new experience will have a weird beginning,
It's up to us to figure out its real meaning.

Blemishes Of The Past

There are things in the past that we all regret,
If we could, we'd change them with any chance we get.
At that time it never seemed so bad,
Yet, now it's memories make us wonder if we were mad.
We try so hard not to look back and move on,
But something or the other pulls us back making us no different than a pawn.
Worrying about the past puts our present in danger,
Which in turn makes our future seem all the more stranger.
Whether it's an unsparked relationship or a stupid decision,
The will to get over it somehow lacks precision.
They say time is a magic that heals every wound,
But if time were on our side, we wouldn't be in this mess marooned.
It's up to us whether we take it as a burden or an experience,
The better answer is obvious if we use a little sense.
We have to understand that the past is past,
And try to erase all the shadow it has cast.
Inspite of all such blemishes of the past, we put on a smile on the outside,
And nobody knows we are barely staying alive on the inside.

Venturing Into The Unknown

Life's not so easy as it may seem,
It is but a constant flowing stream.
Like time, it stops for nobody,
It teaches you lessons the hard war and makes you sturdy.
Every adventure has something common with its beginning,
It's the hunger that never stops burning.
I know not where this path will lead me,
There's no end as far as i can see.
The path looks treaded by both humans and beings,
But there's no guess to what the morrow will bring.
Risk, as they say, is worth taking,
Who knows, it might be a boon in the making.
I'll follow my heart no matter where it leads,
Confidence is the only thing that it needs.di

Change Is The Only Constant

We appreciate the things that stay with us forever,
Not sure whether that's dumb or clever.
For some, forever is just a word in the dictionary,
And for others it's the motto of the century.
Forever generally sounds like a fairy tale ending,
All it needs is a good beginning.
Nothing in life lasts till the end,
Every long road has a bend.
Whatever new happens, happens for a reason,
Just like the onset of every season.
Change is the only constant in life,
It can improve us, without the hassle of it being nice.
We might not like the change,
But somewhere along the line, it helps us to grow. Strange!
Disappointment takes over when the effects of the change can't be seen at one strike,
They are profound when the time ie right.
Best is to embrace this difference at every step,
And soon we'll see its results in our grasp.

A New Beginning

Wanting to start all over again,
I flung my old self down the drain.
I tried to forget the past,
All but the shadow it had cast.
Never did anything feel so bad,
It seemed i was gradually going mad.
I promised i would correct every mistake,
There was too much at stake.
I tried to put my mind at ease,
But it kept flowing with the breeze.
Guilt was starting to engulf me,
There were disappointments as far as i could see.
That was when i realised it aint easy to begin anew,
Smirking i walked back crushing every sentiment that grew.

Changing Priorities

There comes a time in life when the things that we do for fun,
Get replaced by things that are important in the life's run.
Entertainment becomes just a word on the page,
And career takes centre stage.
At this point only dedication and will matter,
A couple of mistakes and we could see our dreams shatter.
The time that was used to be spent in fun or sports,
Gets consumed in surrounded by books.
We can either take the change in our stride,
Or sit and complain with a bunch of excuses beside.
We need to learn to be flexible,
Changing priorities with time should never be impossible.
It's always better to focus on the task at hand,
Than to regret later when time slips through our fingers like sand.
And in this process people will always criticise you,
People who will appreciate it will only be a few.
We should be the one to decide our priority,
And just push the mute button for the majority.

A Soldier's Life

When you live happily and safely in your homes,
He fights until the end against the enemy's drones.
You get mad when your parents don't take you out for lunch,
He feeds on whatever he gets to munch.
You do everything to get that little extra sleep in the morning,
He wakes up early and trains without warning.
You sob uncontrollably when a thorn causes a wound,
He fights his heart out even when he knows he is doomed.
Your family helps you grow everyday without fret,
His might only see him after his untimely death.

When Failures Hurt Deep

It's a common notion that failures are important for success,
But sometimes failures cause mental stress.
When even loads of hard work leads to failures,
The feeling of helplessness comes out as tears.
Our mood becomes grumpy,
Mind is rendered enraged and unhappy.
Silence takes over our words,
And unanswered questions are scattered like broken glass shards.
A single thing keeps popping in the head,
"I wish i were dead. "
No matter how much you try to pull yourselves up,
You'll always find reasons to make your confidence take a steep drop.
Situations that make your heart weep,
Those are the failures that really hurt deep.
They numb our senses,
Encloses them within fenses.
But just two sentences cause the happiness to be unfurled,
"What difference does this make?  It ain't the end of the world. "

Life's A Stage

The stage of our Earth is a platform,
And we, as actors, are here to perform.
We all have our fixed roles,
Our characters always have specific goals.
But it's up to us whether we want to follow the scripted conversations,
Or take it to completely different destinations.
Every person believes that the spotlight is on him,
And he does everything to impress the audience with his wits and whim.
It's never necessary that's the act will go forward as planned,
Just one mistake and everything slips from our hand.
Also, there are times when the act becomes monotonous,
That's why having a trick up your sleeve is always a bonus.
The audience loves to see what they never expect,
These are the moments that have an everlasting impact.
When you get mixed up in your lines and are horrified,
There will always be someone to remind you your part standing beside.
But nothing in this world lasts forever,
And after the show ends, what's going to be remembered is your character.
Our life is nothing but a stage,
Ironically, it is the birthplace of kindness and rage.

Never Say Never

There are many things in life that we regret,
The guilt slowly eats us up from the inside while we idly fret.
Some decisions of the past haunt us dearly,
What we don't know is that they cam help us be more lively.
We prefer to squander in self pity,
Rather than making it a sight so pretty.
In order to make a decision when in doubt,
You only have to feel that it's right. Memories will torture you when you do so,
You just need to relax and let it flow.
It causes us to live in the past,
Increasing the shadow it cast.
When we understand the experience that it gave us,
It might me too late to see the actual crux.
Never say never,
A thought is never too different from a scissor.

Tiring Disappointments

There comes a time in life,
When nothing seems to go right.
Happiness takes a back seat,
And disappointment roams the streets.
Its fairly easy to recognise such a phase,
There is a scarcity of smile on the face.
Such situations rob the mind of its senses,
Which get thrown in the deepest of trenches.
Only negative sides of things are visible,
Everything just seems less feasible.
Numerous attempts are made to keep the spirits up,
But the intensity always seems to drop.
Everyone says the phase will pass,
Yet nobody mentions the shadow it casts.
It's tiring to face disappointments every other day,
Since nothing you do makes them go away.
Even after all this you'll always find someone to provide you the flare,
And you'll realise, you just lived your worst nightmare.

Allied Foes

There is a very fine line of difference between an ally and a foe,
Until we realise it we won't know.
Both have drastically different definitions,
Yet somewhere along the line they have similar compositions.
Every person is an ally to some and foe to the rest,
He dons whichever role he seems best.
But it's important to have both roles in your pot,
Because one teaches things that the other cannot.
The person whom we call our ally,
Might be our worst foe and that much sly.
Life has a funny way of introducing us to such people with no fret,
Considering the situation, we automatically assume their roles without breaking a sweat.
They accompany us in the life's walk,
While they silently go about with their work in the dark.
We think we know them like the back of our hand,
What we don't know is that their move begins at our wit's end.
We all have allied foes,
It's just a matter of which role's close.
